Escaping quiet

Do we need quiet? What can we accomplish in quiet time? Are we escaping the quiet?

I heard on Launchcrate podcast that a creative likes to spend quiet time to work and it would advise the next generation to find quiet time. I realize today on my walk how backwards that is. I agree with her all the way. We are a society of noise. I myself was walking with headphones listening to Jalen and Jacoby podcast. I realized that we have filled the world with noise just by being here: the crunch of grass under my feet, the construction of buildings, cars driving by. Then we've gone further with talking and music. We've gone further and provided everyone with heads so each person can have their own listening experience while in the same room.

I question why we have gotten to a point where we need to remind each other that we need quiet time. Have we been escaping the quiet? Is there a fear of noise in the quiet that maybe comes from prehistoric nature where a noise might mean a dangerous animal on the hunt? Do we find comfort in the noise?
